After graduating from the University of Lahore Medical School in 2015, I pursued my professional dream of specialisation in medicine. My passion for narrowed down to the speciality of – Neurosurgery. Therefore, I applied for MS Neurosurgery program in 2019 and currently I am 2nd year resident in the Department of Neurosurgery Jinnah Hospital. The charm that prompted me to join it was the commitment of Professor Naveed Ashraf to his department and residents for improving their clinical and surgical skills.

His distinguishing feature is his goal to produce a fine and an excellent professional “neurosurgeon” by delivering lectures to the level of their understanding to educate them about the intricacies of human life. Thus, the department is not only producing a good doctor and a neurosurgeon but also a good human being who is kind to others. This atmosphere persuaded me and now after spending about more than 1 year in training I am witnessing the quality of education and training by the kind instructors/supervisors through workshops, conferences and seminars which is continuously refining my skills in my opted field. The instructors and supervisors are really the boon for me. My future interests are in Neurotrauma and Neuro critical care. I want to do my best in future to make my Professor feel proud of me

My first encounter with neurosurgery was on the first day I entered in my alma mater, my first day of medical life and dissection hall and I was shown the brain model. It fascinated me so much that I was inspired to become a neurosurgeon. Years passed away and my passion for neurosurgery converted in to purpose of my life. our society I was uneasy however it was the personality of my teacher Professor Naveed Ashraf that made me join this department without even a second thought. One major reason for joining Jinnah Hospital is standardized head injury care with advanced neuro monitoring tools in closed system Neuro Critical Care unit of this department which is the only unit in the country to have so. I hope to play my role under guidance of seniors to help patients and fulfil my dream of becoming a neurosurgeon
